Due to several factors, but notably few births compared to the past, California’s population is forecast to have possibly peaked and remain mostly flat for the foreseeable decades. Until recently, the population had been forecast to grow to 53 million.
The California fertility rate is expected to decline to 1.5 while deaths increase.
