South Korea needs to adopt an “emergency mindset” to reverse its fertility rate that ranks as the lowest in the world, its president said, calling for new initiatives to fix past policies that he sees as broken.

Yoon said at the meeting some of his major initiatives include expanding childcare services, improving working conditions for parents, providing newlyweds with affordable housing and financial support, and reducing hospitalization expenses for children

All of those proposals have already been done in other countries and had no impact on changing the fertility rate. It all sounds good but is meaningless – it’s not the reason for the collapse in the fertility rate.
