The “experts” who predict the future were wrong again:

We are entering an unanticipated reality—an era of slow population growth and, increasingly, demographic decline that will shape our future in profound and unpredictable ways. Globally, last year’s total population growth was the smallest in a half-century, and by 2050, some 61 countries are expected to see population declines while the world’s population is due to peak sometime later this century.

The reason the technocratic elite experts are wrong at least 50% of the time is because they ALWAYS predict calamity, everything is awful, we are all going to die. Most of their model projections are no better than a coin toss. But to get media attention, there must be a prediction of a gloomy future. A population decline is probably a net positive, but it does mean many changes are coming.

On my Social Panic blog I have talked about the “perpetual culture of outrage” that inhabits the social media community.

In the worlds of the technocratic elite – science, political leaders, public health – we have the “perpetual culture of fear”.
