She, below, is being sarcastic but we can see where others will start demanding that pets wear face masks, be vaccinated or be exterminated.
The U.S. actually did try to kill all cats during a polio outbreak in 1916 foolishly think cats were the cause (they were not). In 1952, the “experts” sprayed DDT everywhere to kill mosquitos after incorrectly thinking that was the cause. But then a decade later, it was concluded that DDT had significant negative environmental effects.
