Right here:

Why is Remote ID necessary?
Remote ID is necessary to ensure the safety and security of the national airspace system by distinguishing compliant airspace users from those potentially posing a safety or security risk. Remote ID also helps to lay the foundation for routine advanced operations such as package delivery and flying beyond visual line of sight.

That appears in the text of an email from the FAA reminding drone flyers that the discretionary enforcement period for Remote ID ends this week.

The security issues were a red herring. In the lead up to the rule proposal, the FAA and other parties flooded the news media with reports of “near miss” and “drone sightings”. Since Remote ID was adopted (but before it went into actual effect), news reports of “drone sightings” have nearly disappeared.

That was government led and industry led propaganda messaging to persuade the public that Remote ID was essential for “security”. But the real reason all along has been to implement automated drone services such as package delivery. Without Remote Id position reports, these systems could not always avoid collisions with small drones (nor birds!)
