Austin becomes largest U.S. city to drop minimum parking requirements | The Texas Tribune

In the future, even as the population begins shrinking in a few decades, everyone will be pushed in to dense urban cities – with walking and riding a bike, or public transit the main modes of transport. Benefits include allowing developers to choose what they put into each development – parking or not. Harms may include increasing prices of properties that can park 2 or more vehicles (as needed for the foreseeable future for many two income families and those who are self employed in service businesses) as fewer new developments have fewer or no parking spaces.
