This is not a long term successful strategy! Ford Loses Over $32,000 Per EV During The Second Quarter, Shifts Production Goals | Carscoops

Even more interesting is Ford’s recent turn about – will give more attention to hybrid vehicles. That’s what customers indicate they want, based on their buying choices.

As EV sales saturate the early adopter and virtue-signaling customers, many other potential customers are finding that EVs cannot yet deliver what the customer wants or needs. Range can be cut in half when towing, or by 20-40% during bitter cold winter travel – who wants to have to stop and charge for 30+ minutes every two hours? Consequently, customers who want alternatives to pure ICE vehicles are buying plug-in hybrids. These operate in EV mode around town, but on the open highway for long distance trips, they deliver the convenience of fast refueling and better range. Thus, it looks like many customers are opting for PHEVs versus EVs, at this point in time.
