Over the past 20 years, the school age population in the district has declined by about 30,000 students because “fewer children are being born”. There are 15% fewer children than there were 20 years ago.

Now, 18 of 22 middle schools are losing students.

In major communities of Colorado, birth rates have declined sharply since 2000.

Nationally, there will be about 2 million fewer school kids by 2030 (about a 5% decrease).
