Just three months ago scientists issued a report with a dire warning: Utah’s Great Salt Lake, after decades of drying that had only accelerated in recent years, was on track to disappear in five years.

It’s risen 3 feet so far, and the snow melt hasn’t begun. The snow pack is at a record high – during an “average” snow pack year, the lake would rise another 3-4 feet. The current snow pack is over 30 inches of water equivalent, compared to the average of about 16″. And snow may continue accumulating for several more weeks. That sounds like the Lake may see another 6 – 8 feet of rise.

The Expert prediction – just 3 months ago – turned out to be wrong.
