‘I Had To Get Out’—Black Americans Are Building Wealth by Relocating to Africa
Many African countries provide residency or citizenship visas to black Americans who move to their country. This provides, especially, currency arbitrage (the US dollar can buy a lot in Africa) and entrepreneurship opportunities. There are a lot of opportunities in today’s Africa. Many of the people mentioned in the article, however, appear to have been fairly well off as a result of their growing up in America.
While violent crime rates are far lower in Nairobi and other major African cities than in the U.S., the Nairobi relocation specialists we spoke with caution against trying to live on a shoestring budget.
