Say Goodbye to Permissionless Travel From the U.S. to Europe (reason.com)
The U.S. has been adding increasing number of restrictions on travel to the U.S. Since 2011, Europeans have to apply for a defacto security check visas. Starting in 2024, U.S. citizens will have apply for security visa to enter Europe.
Europeans and others who may have taken a vacation trip to Cuba or visited any of the countries on our naughty list, must now pay a large fee and apply for a Visa Waiver to visit the United States.
The list of countries for which the U.S. treats travel as naughty is an every growing list.

Convictions can make entry to the U.S. (or Canada) difficult and she will likely have to apply for a Visa Waiver if she chooses to visit these areas in the future. DUI, drug abuse convictions and many other crimes can make entry to other countries very difficult.
