Like many with this perspective that travel is now bad, he spent his career traveling the world doing geological research and presenting at international conferences attended by other elites from all over the world. What was fine for him is bad for you. Now retired he lives in an out of the way area in the UK and apparently no longer travels.
McGuire is an apocalyptic doomer – his popular writing books have titles like “A Guide to the End of the World”, “Seven years to save the planet”, “Surviving Armageddon” and many more. He writes a blog for Extinction Rebellion, a group that wants to both end democracy and ban air travel. Many of his academic writings predict apocalypse (like “The threat from space: asteroid and comet impacts”), and threats for volcanoes and earthquakes. He sees terror everywhere he looks as illustrated by much of his writings the past 30 years. He is an apocalyptic doomer.
