Venice has already done this. New Zealand has done this. Croatia has a 7 Euro per day per person fee and Dubrovnik is putting a tax on cruise ships (which will pass through to tourists, of course).
Norway has proposed a fee on visitors to the Svalbard Islands. Now, Norway is proposing tax fees per municipality at various towns and cities throughout Norway. Norway is already one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit.
