Over about the past 20 years, there have been many disruptions to travel.
- In 2001, we had 9/11.
- In 2008-2010, we had Great Depression 2.0 and many airline pilots were furloughed or laid off their jobs.
- In 2020, we had pandemic policies that shut down global travel and banned entry to numerous countries (except for the special people with multiple residencies or citizenship).
- In 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in a massive military war they called “a special military operation”. This war has killed tens of thousands, wounded tens of thousands, displaced millions and destroyed hundreds of billions of $s in infrastructure. 80% of the world’s sunflower oil originates from Russia and Ukraine and that is now cut off. A huge amount of the world’s exported wheat comes from Russia and Ukraine and that too is cut off.
- In 2022, we have rampant inflation making everything cost more – as the value of our currencies plummet.
- A shortage of airline pilots means airlines are unable to fly sufficient flights today – and would like to add 12,000 new pilots, this year, just in the U.S. This has disrupted airline travel.
What does all this mean? It means never postpone anything for a future that may never come. Live life for today, not tomorrow.
