Roger Dow, CEO of the US Travel Association, is questioning the logic of President Joe Biden’s travel restrictions, imposed on South Africa and seven neighboring countries following the emergence of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
“We want them to revisit this quickly,” Dow told CNN in a phone interview. “We need to follow the science — and a travel ban is not the most effective way.”

There is no logic to the travel bans on South Africa considering that Omicron has been found in other countries before South Africa, and those other countries are not travel restricted.
Update Dec 3: Now confirmed in 38 countries and 8 U.S. states. The travel bans went into effect AFTER the virus was already circulating most everywhere. The bans, the testing regimes will do nothing to prevent this from spreading now. I will not update this again as it is now clear that Omicron (an anagram of Moronic) is off and running.
