Americans’ interest in moving abroad spikes after the Trump wins the election | CNN
The first anecdotal character is a U.S. woman with pretty privilege – she’s been working in France for some time including winning a culinary writing award in France in 2010. No surprise, she has a writing background but also does entrepreneurial work. Chances are she was already planning to move to France.
The second anecdote is anonymous so nothing about her can be verified. She says she began researching moving out – in 2023 – long before Trump was re-elected. Thus, she was already looking at moving outside the U.S. The anonymous individual is currently in grad school – perhaps in writing since most travel stories feature writers?
The third and last anecdote is a woman who was born in Vietnam and is considering a return to Vietnam.
All 3 appear to have been making plans to leave the U.S. long before the election; 2 of the 3 may have immigration privileges.
All 3 are women – men do not exist in travel/move abroad stories unless they are gay. See the Myth 1 and 2 posts, in the right most column for the data.
The media is pushing the story that Americans are fleeing the country after the election. At least the above story notes that doing so is, in fact, hard to do. (So why run so many stories pushing the idea?)
