Part of the media’s obsession with “America is awful, worst country in the world“, so everyone says they will move abroad: Want to leave the US? Here’s how to move to Canada, Mexico and Europe as an American. (msn.com)
Reality reminder: At any given time, an estimated 2-3% of Americans live abroad. About 20+% of those are in the U.S military and/or their families with them. A large percent of “Americans” living abroad are people who have dual citizenship by virtue of themselves or parents being born in another country or have right of descent ancestry with close relatives already living in the destination country. A majority of Americans who move abroad and obtain residency in another country married a foreigner, had prior dual citizenship or right of descent close ancestry (this accounts for up to 2 in 3). 40% of those living abroad are living in Mexico or Canada. Probably less than 1% of Americans retire abroad. The data is contradictory to the media’s obsession with “Americans move abroad stories” which tells us a lot about how awful the U.S. media is.
MOST AMERICANS lacking an immigration privilege cannot easily move abroad and in many cases have no possibility of moving abroad.
