Media: Assume 100% of what they write is nonsense
As in this case – see the Community Note

This past week, the Oregonian had a sports opinion column about the Oregon Trailblazers.
Apparently the columnist referred to the Trailblazers as the Jailblazers, a term long associated with the team, and the title of a Nettflix documentary about the team, airing in April of 2026.
I had to go to AI search to confirm they had used the term Jailblazers, and that the term has been used going back to the 1990s, allegedly at a time when many team players engaged in criminal acts and had interactions with law enforcement, hence, a pop nickname for the team becdame “Jailblazers”.
It is unclear what was in the original column although there are suggestions this was linked to a player whose first name begins with “Ja”.
The Oregonian editor had a meltdown and wrote a front page apology – never mentioning the word that was so offensive that he needed to bloviate about it. See Accountability means correcting our mistakes: Letter from the Editor – oregonlive.com (the opinion is now behind a pay wall so they don’t want you to see it).
