Today’s consumer HD cameras produce video that greatly exceeds the requirement for professional SD production (after down conversion from the HDV or AVCHD formats). Several consumer HD camcorders now nearly rival professional broadcast gear in quality (although not in terms of overall features).

Two of my video cameras have face detection capability, and use that to adjust color balance and typically to soften the facial features to remove the effects of harsh, high contrast lighting on appearance. However, every camera is different. The feature started out in still cameras but is now available in video cameras too.
