Sales of all cameras are getting killed by smart phones with cameras built in – no one thought this would impact the high end though:

This year, shipments of whats called “interchangeable-lens cameras”—high-end models that let users swap out different lenses—are diving suddenly after years of robust growth. Most of those are digital single-lens reflex, or DSLR, cameras—the bulky models used by professional photographers and enthusiasts.

Research firm IDC expects shipments of such cameras to fall 9.1% to 17.4 million units from 19.1 million units last year.

Most of the big camera makers are scaling back production as camera sales drop dramatically. Nikon forecasts 2013 sales to be down 23% over 2012. The culprit is said to be the smartphone, whose cameras are getting better.
