Americans tend to have income in U.S. dollars and then get to spend them in a country where the currency exchange strongly favors the value of the dollar- thus the local economy is inexpensive to Americans but not cheap for locals who earn income in the local currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have zero experience living outside the U.S. so am unable to have a useful perspective on whether the above is true or not.
