{"id":2705,"date":"2024-02-08T19:08:29","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T03:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/travel\/?p=2705"},"modified":"2024-02-08T19:21:20","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T03:21:20","slug":"america-is-awful-and-1-3-of-citizens-say-the-intend-to-leave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/travel\/2024\/02\/08\/america-is-awful-and-1-3-of-citizens-say-the-intend-to-leave\/","title":{"rendered":"America is awful, and 1\/3 of U.S. citizens intend to leave, so they say"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thanks to the media&#8217;s constant doomerism, Americans are convinced they live in the worst country in the world &#8211; and therefore, they should move to another country ASAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>However, according to a study by the University of Kent, one-third (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/society\/20593\/one-third-of-americans-consider-living-abroad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">33.1%<\/a>) of all US-born US nationals living in the States are now considering leaving the country to live abroad<\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/22-countries-where-americans-live-180411697.html\">22 Countries Where Americans Live Long Term Without a Visa (yahoo.com)<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of 22 countries is mostly a list of where Americans can stay up to 180 days without a visa, not permanent residency. Obtaining permanent residency is hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality check<\/strong>: Between about 2.5 and 3% of U.S. citizens are living abroad at any point in time. That total includes military overseas assignments, study abroad and foreign exchange students and those living abroad temporarily on work assignments.
