I understand, from other stories, that during peak of summer, the streets\/sidewalks are solidly packed with tourists. Cruise ships are now banned in Venice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Others, such as in Spain, are proposing taxes on tourists, limiting the number of tourists in some areas, and\/or requiring advance reservations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That is also true for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/travel\/2022\/06\/17\/overtourism-from-venice-to-marseilles-heres-how-european-travel-hotspots-are-tackling-over\">many parks<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A popular road on the Amalfi cost in Italy is limited use of the roadway to odd or even days based on the vehicle license plate number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/travel\/2022\/06\/17\/overtourism-from-venice-to-marseilles-heres-how-european-travel-hotspots-are-tackling-over\">port cities<\/a> have restricted, banned or announced future restrictions on cruise ships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Barcelona has banned construction of new hotels in the city center, and also bans replacing existing hotels updated construction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ceciliarodriguez\/2023\/07\/31\/tourists-go-home-fed-up-with-over-tourism-european-hotspots-impose-bans-fines-taxes-and-traps\/?sh=6ab0ed9065f5\">Fed Up With Tourists, European Hotspots Impose Bans, Fines And Traps! (forbes.com)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not new, either &#8211; there were <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5349533\/europe-against-tourists\/\">news stories on these issues in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having not traveled until late in life, we have resigned ourselves to not ever visiting Europe in the summer, unfortunately. We were too late &#8211; and why today I strongly advocate against postponing life to a future that may no longer exist. Live your life for today.
