Everything was deleted, not just the topics of &#8220;climate change&#8221;, &#8220;LGBTQ&#8221;, &#8220;health cdare&#8221; and &#8220;civil rights&#8221;.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li>This works as fake news propaganda by leaving out critical information (the National\u00a0 Archives and the hand off process so that &#8220;What you see is all there is&#8221;), and the logical fallacy of &#8220;if something is not stated, then X must be true&#8221;. In this case, a lot of people imagined what they wanted to believe was true.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->This was seized on by social media &#8220;outrage culture&#8221; that the new Administration abolished all of these topics and policies. This became &#8220;confirmation&#8221; that the new administration will be anti-gay, anti-access to health care, will seek a reduction in civil rights, and so on. <em>Tweet,<\/em> <em>Like<\/em> and <em>Share<\/em> and you&#8217;ve got a full scale social media firestorm.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0conclusion, however, is based in incomplete reporting. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>This pre-announced change was made by the National Archives and not by the new Administration as part of the hand off of the web site from the Obama administration to the Trump administration.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The incorrect story was <a href=\"http:\/\/occupydemocrats.com\/2017\/01\/20\/trump-just-replaced-white-house-website-terrifying\/\">rebroadcast <\/a>by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fakenewschecker.com\/fake-news-source\/occupy-democrats\">fake news site Occupy Democrats<\/a> and then widely shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly, there will be different policies on these subjects in the future &#8211; but let us respond to reality rather than hallucinations of future policies that are not yet specified.<\/p>\n<p>The hand off process was not secret but was well known in advance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Obama Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/blog\/2016\/10\/31\/digital-transition-how-presidential-transition-works-social-media-age\">discussed the hand off process beforehand<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Capture-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2160\" src=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Capture-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"791\" height=\"159\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Politico discussed the switch over in an <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tffkd3AHv7\">article<\/a> published <em>before<\/em> Inauguration Day.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L06UibyWlG\">Snopes.com<\/a>\u00a0confirmed the story is mostly false &#8211; the only true part is the web site was reset without much content. Snopes points out the reasons given by the fake reports were wrong.<\/li>\n<li>CNN\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/01\/20\/politics\/obama-white-house-website\/\">describes the hand off of whitehouse.gov accurately.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>NY Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/01\/20\/us\/politics\/trump-takes-over-the-potus-account-on-twitter.html?_r=0\">covers the issue<\/a> too but mangles the story.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-38699809\">BBC<\/a> gets the story mostly correct.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/trumps-white-house-website-removes-climate-change-lgbt-pages\/\">CNet <\/a>tech news mangles the story into fake news.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong> &#8211; our web site is not intended to do what Snopes.com does. Our interest is in how propaganda is distributed on social media to influence large groups of people.
