The storyteller leaves out that there are 3,142 counties in the U.S. and <a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/2023\/04\/26\/stupid-news-report-of-the-day-there-are-only-3-ev-plugs-for-every-10000-americans\/\">23% of U.S. counties have less than 10,000 population<\/a>. It is amazing only about 200 counties lack a local news source!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The decline underscores the need for the public and even governments to fund news gathering if it is to survive in its current form and avoid widespread \u201cnews deserts,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The decline of media outlets is creating \u201cnews deserts\u201d where local media once operated, which will isolate citizens much like \u201cfood deserts\u201d do from a lack of nearby grocery stores.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Except &#8220;food deserts&#8221; turned out to be bogus, as it was discovered, there were often many grocers, or stores not counted as grocers, like Costco and Walmart Supercenters, both of which have groceries, in the middle of the food deserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the comments to the news story, there appears to be zero public support for taxpayer funded media propaganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/natalie-korach-100a6a156\/\">author of the story<\/a> is about 24 years old, with a BA in political science and government &#8211; which means, she&#8217;s trained to think that everything is a problem that can be solved by a government program. She did a yearlong student study abroad program in Paris, while in high school, which today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/american-school-of-paris-fact-sheet\/#:~:text=There%20are%20838%20school-provided%20computers%20across%20the%20school,%E2%82%AC32%2C870%3B%20grades%206-8%3A%20%E2%82%AC37%2C925%3B%20and%20grades%209-13%3A%20%E2%82%AC38%2C560.\">costs about $50,000 for tuition, transportation and &#8220;security&#8221; fees<\/a>. She also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/media-layoffs-news-deserts-2023\/\">previously worked in Tel Aviv, Israel<\/a> and now works for The Wrap, one of the new, modern &#8220;digital&#8221; content mill news services. In other words, she is a youthful global elitist. Her perspective is just like everyone else in the U.S. &#8230; except, from the comments, everyone disagrees with her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Communities face &#8220;news deserts&#8221; as journalism shuts down (except not really).
