Moral of the Story: Mainstream media is not always reliable.<\/em>&#8220;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surprisingly, Adolf Hitler was <a href=\"http:\/\/content.time.com\/time\/magazine\/article\/0,9171,760539,00.html\">Time Magazine&#8217;s Man of the Year in 1938<\/a>, as documented by Time.com.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This poster is effective because of its simplicity. Simple messaging is always most effective as compared to lengthy, detailed or difficult to comprehend messages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><br>My interpretation\u00a0of Time Magazine&#8217;s 1938 commentary &#8211; they thought Hitler was the most <em>influential<\/em> person of 1938.\u00a0Their commentary hardly reads as an endorsement of Hitler (follow the link above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second, the poster says naming Hitler as &#8220;Man of the Year&#8221; confirms&nbsp;the media is not always reliable, without reviewing whether what Time wrote was accurate and reliable, or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, this is an effective poster and the main claim is indeed true &#8211; Time did name Hitler as Man of the Year in 1938. It is not clear that this is a good argument that the media is not always reliable &#8211; there are plenty of other examples that better&nbsp;illustrate the unreliability of media \ud83d\ude42 Linking this to media inaccuracy is a bit of a logical fallacy.
