The unavoidable truth is that our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/apr\/08\/headed-off-the-charts-worlds-ocean-surface-temperature-hits-record-high\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oceans are warming<\/a>&nbsp;faster than predicted, and it is beginning to feel like the hackneyed \u201cfrog in a slowly boiling pot\u201d analogy for climate change is more apt than ever.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Practicing Factfulness<\/span><\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/2023\/07\/29\/follow-up-the-hottest-seat-temperature-ever-recorded\/\">the 100 deg temps were hit twice, briefly. Within 5-6 hours, the temperature was 9 degrees color. Within 2 days, the temperature was about 17 degrees cooler<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>UPDATE<\/strong>: The temperatures measured were not a new record. The buoy is in a shallow tidal estuary, close to shore. It is not an ocean buoy. When the tide goes out, the very shallow water heats up. When the tide comes back in, the temperature quickly drops. The media lied to you about this event for the sole purpose of climate advocacy propaganda.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p><strong>Explain: <\/strong>Why were these temperatures hit briefly and but then sharply cooled afterwards?<\/p><br><li>Why did the two nearest buoys to this one not show temperatures this high?<\/li><br><li>If &#8220;our oceans are warming faster than predicted&#8221;, what does that say about the prediction accuracy of the models and the science?<\/li><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A competent reporter would have asked these questions, but &#8220;competent&#8221; and &#8220;reporter&#8221; are two words that do not typically appear together. So instead, we get superlative, hysterical pejorative terminology like &#8220;boiling seas&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A competent reporter would ask why one buoy (but not the adjoining buoys) registered high sea temperatures, which then dropped by 9 degrees within hours, and by 17 degrees within 2 days.
