American and Southwest Airlines were the most affected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The ground stop was caused by a telecommunications problem at the FAA&#8217;s Albuquerque Center, leading to flight plan issues and departures being halted for at least an hour.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The extreme heat in Phoenix, with temperatures reaching 115 degrees, <em>may have contributed to the ground stop as excessive heat poses a risk to aircraft operations.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/travel\/news\/faa-issues-ground-stop-at-phoenix-sky-harbor-international-airport\/ar-AA1ej48S?cvid=9ba24545d7e442b8824bd0e737bf4d65&amp;ocid=winp2fptaskbar&amp;ei=13\">FAA Issues Ground Stop At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (msn.com)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FAA itself said it is due to a telecommunications issue at Albuquerque Center &#8211; which, surprisingly, is located in Albuquerque which is in New Mexico, which is a different state than Arizona. Face plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The journalism style guide apparently mandates all stories be tied to the <em>ClimateCrisis<\/em> &#8211; no exceptions, even if the reporter &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/channingreid\/\">who has been writing about aviation for 10 months but has no training in the field<\/a>&#8211; has to write contradictory statements to achieve that. The reporter has shot his credibility in the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Arizona Republic reported the story correctly &#8211; it was hot in Phoenix but the problem was telecommunications equipment in Albuquerque New Mexico: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/travel\/news\/why-were-200-flights-grounded-in-phoenix-extreme-heat-is-only-part-of-the-answer\/ar-AA1eiYoS\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/7cUyx\">Why 200 Southwest, American flights were delayed in Phoenix Monday<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The news media has really embarrassed itself the past 2-3 weeks and no longer has any credibility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reporter self destructs in just 3 sentences, writing contradictory statements. The FAA temporarily suspended flights at Phoenix due to a telecommunications problem at Albuquerque Center located in New Mexico, having nothing to do with heat in Phoenix. But the reporter, incredibly, tries to link the temporary ground stop to temperatures in Phoenix.
