This is our System 1 quick, easy, intuitive thinking style in operation. In other words, we do not think, we respond at a gut or emotional level.<br \/>\nMuch propaganda messaging can only be countered, typically, with logic and facts, which requires, slow thinking (System 2), which is hard and thus the correction to a propaganda meme is mostly ignored. &#8220;False facts&#8221; are therefore easily created by effective System 1 targeting in propaganda.<br \/>\nRecent floods on the Seine River in Paris were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;tbm=nws&amp;authuser=0&amp;q=siene+river%2C+floods%2C+climate+change&amp;oq=siene+river%2C+floods%2C+climate+change&amp;gs_l=news-cc.3..43j43i53.542.5055.0.5152.35.12.0.23.0.0.79.775.12.12.0...0.0...1ac.1.HM07EOI_73s\">quickly blamed on &#8220;climate change&#8221;<\/a>.<br \/>\nSomeone responded with their own propaganda message using an effective System 1 approach.\u00a0It is rare for a counterpoint to a social media propaganda item to be done so effectively and succinctly:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/ParisFloods.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1301 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/ParisFloods-947x1024.jpg\" alt=\"ParisFloods\" width=\"625\" height=\"676\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><strong>Thinking Fast and Slow<\/strong> <\/em>author Kahneman, and creator of the &#8220;System 1 and System 2&#8221; thinking concept acknowledges that 11 of 12 studies cited in his chapter on &#8220;priming&#8221; were from weak studies. That chapter implied that &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/retractionwatch.com\/2017\/02\/20\/placed-much-faith-underpowered-studies-nobel-prize-winner-admits-mistakes\/\">subtle cues in their environment can have strong effects on their behavior outside their awareness<\/a>&#8220;. This does not mean his conclusions are wrong but that the evidence supporting his conclusions may be weak on the subject of &#8220;priming&#8221;.
