This method is common in corporate and government propaganda efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an old post with a link to prior posts on the subject: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/2018\/08\/07\/begging-the-question-fallacy-this-is-not-who-we-are-again-and-again-and-again\/\">Begging the Question Fallacy: \u201cThis is not who we are\u201d \u2026 again and again and again \u2026\u00a0 \u2013 Social Panic<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>For example, when UAL inappropriately and violently removed Dr. David Dao from an airline flight, causing a long-lasting traumatic brain injury, their CEO asserted &#8220;This is not who we are&#8221;, immediately after demonstrating that this is indeed who they are.<\/p>\n<p>There is news today that a &#8220;Legal Counsel&#8221; for PBS was recorded on tape advocating for firebombing the White House, and if Biden is elected, then under Biden, the government should take away the children of Trump supporters and send them to government re-education\/re-programming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/pbs-lawyer-resigns-after-being-caught-in-veritas-sting\/2021\/01\/12\/f8bbb4f6-5521-11eb-acc5-92d2819a1ccb_story.html\">PBS has fired this counsel<\/a> and issued the usual bland statement &#8211; see middle tweet &#8211; suggesting this is not who they are, after empirically showing that this is who they are.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/Capture-22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11262\" src=\"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/social\/wp-content\/uploads\/Capture-22-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>PBS issued <a href=\"https:\/\/katu.com\/news\/nation-world\/pbs-attorney-fired-after-video-shows-him-pushing-for-re-education-camps-for-trump-voters\">a later statement<\/a> saying &#8220;his actions &#8216;in no way reflect our values or opinions'&#8221;, just after their employee expressed precisely those values and opinions &#8211; the begging the question fallacy.<\/p>\n<p>We have no idea if these viewpoints are widespread within PBS or not. Clearly, these behavioral traits are not appropriate for staff at a government funded educational programming organization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When an organization suffers an embarrassing fiasco of their own making, they often respond with the silly &#8220;This is not who we are&#8221; claim, just after they&#8217;ve demonstrated that this is indeed who they are. This is known as the &#8220;Begging the question fallacy&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Today, a PBS legal counsel was caught advocating for fire bombing the White House and sending children of Trump supporters to re-education camps.
