This has happened before where someone “liked” a controversial post online – and then found themselves in trouble for having “liked” the post.<\/p>\n

Many tend to click “Like” on friend’s posts without necessarily seeing or thinking through the details. No idea if that happened, below, but everyone should be aware of this issue.<\/p>\n

In this case, some police officers “Liked” a post by a former police officer that took part in the attack on the U.S. Capitol.<\/p>\n

Oakland police pledged to investigate allegations that officers have endorsed or \u201cbeen involved\u201d in social media accounts of Wednesday\u2019s Capitol takeover.\u201c<\/p>\n

We will not tolerate any form of hate speech, any expression that supports hate speech or any acts of subversion, whether in-person or on online platforms,\u201d the department said in a statement released on Friday.<\/p>\n

The department said it learned that \u201ccurrent employees may have been involved on social media accounts that contain objectionable or offensive content.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Note – I found the insurrection and attack on the U.S. Capitol disgusting and hope participants face maximum legal consequences for their actions. My notes above do not endorse the Oakland police department, its officers or the former officer. I have no idea what the original social media post contained.
