{"id":3254,"date":"2014-10-08T21:53:42","date_gmt":"2014-10-09T05:53:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/3d.coldstreams.com\/?p=3254"},"modified":"2014-10-08T21:53:42","modified_gmt":"2014-10-09T05:53:42","slug":"why-youtube-3d-might-be-gone-for-a-long-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coldstreams.com\/3d\/2014\/10\/08\/why-youtube-3d-might-be-gone-for-a-long-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Youtube 3D might be gone for a long time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Update October 15th: Youtube has returned to using the Flash-based video player which supports 3D viewing.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nBack in June, Youtube announced they were working on many\u00a0new features:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youtubecreator.blogspot.dk\/2014\/06\/look-ahead-creator-features-coming-to.html\">YouTube Creator Blog: Look ahead: creator features coming to YouTube<\/a>.<br \/>\nOne of these is support for 48 and 60 frame per second video, as illustrated in these\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLbsGxdAPhjv9UrLo19pS8teoRKj7funAy\">demonstration 720\/60p video<\/a>s on Youtube. Supposedly several channels on Youtube have had 60p capability enabled for testing.<br \/>\nMy guess is Youtube has placed a higher priority on their published feature list and likely other features not yet announced (including additional capabilities to completed features such as Creator Studio)- and not on their unannounced shutting down\u00a0the 3D video player. There are many capabilities yet to come such as improved integration with other Google Services (they&#8217;ve just added a way to link in Google Photos, for example).<br \/>\nAt some point, 3D will come back.
