Define “cup”?

Drinking two or more daily cups of coffee is associated with roughly twice the risk of a premature death from cardiovascular disease in people with severe hypertension, a new study suggests.

The above study says you should limit caffeine only if your blood pressure is >160/100 mmHg. From personal experience, that sort of misinformation is dangerous. Based on my direct experience, if your blood pressure is already higher – say in the range of 130-145 over 85-95, you should at least try eliminating caffeine for 30 days and see what that does to your BP!

The study mentions “cups”: “two or more daily cups“. A cup is 6 ounces. No on drinks six ounces of coffee “per cup”. Try to find a 6-ounce cup at Starbucks! It’s all 12, 16 or 21 ounces now.

I have repeatedly asked for an 8-ounce latte at many coffee places – and if they can make it at all, it’s usually ends up about10 ounces in the 12 oz cup.
