This might not be the improvement you think it is:
Some estimate recent Covid variants have an R-0 value of up to 18 to 20, meaning that for each person who gets sick, they will pass it on to 18 to 20 other people. That’s on par with measles.
No study anywhere at any time has found masks cut transmission by 50%. That claim is a fake strawman argument. Most studies found no benefit to reducing community spread, and a couple found some low percentage reduction.
Cutting R-0 in half still leaves a disease spreading exponentially out of control, such as R-0=9. Instead of being sick this week, you’ll be sick next week.
