If it is so bad, wouldn’t we notice something? Apparently, it is so severe you won’t know if you have it, unless you get tested. Or something.
The rise of COVID cases in some regions of the U.S., just as testing efforts wane, has raised the specter that the next major wave of the virus may be difficult to detect. In fact, the country could be in the midst of a surge right now and we might not even know it.
People are not getting tested because (a) they may have no symptoms or they have their usual spring allergies, or (b) they test themselves at home now, or (c) they don’t care anymore.
A pandemic ends through immunity: either from vaccination, acquired immunity or both. Period.
