Tesla, Rivian have raised prices, as has a major battery maker.
I ran some numbers yesterday and calculated that gas prices would need to be about $9 to $11 per gallon to make an EV less expensive to own and operate than my Honda Fit over 100,000 miles of vehicle operation. EVs also cost about 23% more to insure relative to similar ICE vehicles.
I did that calculation after seeing EV enthusiasts discuss their fuel cost savings as they drive their $55,000 EV. While their enthusiasm is genuine, their math was not: they ignored initial costs, ignored $400 Tesla tire replacement costs, and/or compared their gas savings to their ICE vehicles (e.g. Ford pick up truck).
