The Icom ID-52 digital radio transceiver was originally going to ship in early Fall of 2020 and dealers had already begun taking orders. However, a massive fire destroyed a semiconductor foundry in Japan that was the near exclusive provider of various kinds of semiconductors, including, rumor had it, a key receiver component in the ID-52 radio, and also a competing product from Kenwood, the TH-74.
Finally – after more than a year, ICOM America says the ID-52 will start shipping in December.
