Confusion: Multnomah County recommends vaccinated, unvaccinated people wear masks inside

In September, 2020, then CDC Director Robert Redfield testified to Congress that masks were more effective than vaccines.

Face plant.

Since then, other experts tell us that now with vaccines, we have the right tool to slow the spread of Covid-19 and vaccines are more effective than face masks[1].

Except when they are not – and we are now back to masks apparently work better than vaccines?

This incoherent messaging is going on all around the country.

[1] Define mask. Do you mean an N95 respirator, properly used and changed regularly? Do you mean a certified medical grade surgical mask properly used and changed regularly? Or do you mean random bits of cloth having no standards or evaluation metrics?

My state says, as of July 2021, that the general public should not use N95s or medical grade masks, and should only use random bits of “cloth face coverings”. Which are essentially useless. No wonder many of us find public health communication to be nonsensical bull shit. They demand we wear essentially worthless “cloth face coverings”. And never mind that everywhere we look, cases skyrocketed in spite of 95% mask wearing compliance, or that 90% of those who got Covid-19 (per CDC) wore face masks when required. There is no logical explanation for this except that “cloth face coverings” are useless blankies.
